Background
Where Unify collapsed the field into one event, this practice does the opposite: it attempts to attend to every source in the room simultaneously and individually. The global workspace resists — as with The Two Rooms, single-channel access forces serial attention. Held long enough, the attempt trains the aperture wider. It is auditory bifurcation practice.
Hear everything that is happening while focusing on each thing individually — as if you were many observers listening at once.
The Practice
- 01
Sit in a room with several ongoing sounds. Close your eyes.
- 02
Identify one sound. Attend to it fully.
- 03
Without letting go of it, add a second sound as an equally-attended object.
- 04
Add a third. A fourth. Keep each one distinct, not blended.
- 05
Try to hold every distinct source simultaneously as its own attended object.
- 06
Notice the pull to collapse into the whole (that was the last practice) or into one source (default).
- 07
Sit with the effort. The reach is the practice.
The mind will fight to serialize. Refusing is training. Whether it succeeds today or not, you are widening the channel.
